Media Scavenger Hunt

Go to this site. Complete ALL the questions on the sheet you will get from Coach P. For the last part, your description must be at least 2 paragraphs long (this is at least 10 sentences total). You can write on the sheet or you can type it. You do not need to write the question BUT you must use complete sentences for all answers. If you do not finish, you can get a FLEX pass for tomorrow from Coach P.

Pictures that Lie

As we have looked at and talked about, the media can do many things with editing. It is just a fact of life.

Please go to the Pictures That Lie Website. Once here you will see many images that have been altered in some way. I want you to look at these and see which ones stand out to you.

Once you have looked through ALL of the images, I want you to go to your Blog and Create a NEW POST (not a new Blog). In there I want you to tell me what 5 stood out to you the most. From there I want you to pick 1 to tell me more about (5-7 sentences about why you thought this one stood out the most, what you think, how you feel and whatever else comes to mind).

Enjoy the pictures. It is amazing what can be done with editing.

Welcome to your Informational Blog for Media Analysis

There are going to be many things we are going to do in this class. This blog site is going to be your place to come for various assignments and projects. Please make sure to add this web address (http://ferrismedia2009@blogspot.com) to your favorites for easy reference.

Today is all about the Super Bowl. We have watched a bunch of Super Bowl ads both from this year and from previous years. Some stick out, others do not. Some were funny, some were a complete waste of money.

Log into your blog. Write 2 paragraphs (5-7 sentences each) about the commercials you saw and what you think of them. Be descriptive.

For Extra Credit, you can add a link or embed on of the commercials into your blog (I will have already shown you how to do this so try and think back to what you saw or ask for help). You can check out this site (Blogger for Dummies for help too). A good site to use is www.spike.com/superbowl for commercials from this year and previous years. Other sites do not have the embed feature or you cannot access them from school.

Once you are done with this you must email me with a link to your blog. To do this:

  1. Have both your blog and your email open
  2. Compose a new email to ferrer01@southredford.net (you cannot just click on this link)
  3. Go back to your blog
  4. Click VIEW BLOG
  5. Copy the web address for your blog (http://_________.blogspot.com/) into the email
  6. Hit send
  7. I will save it, give you credit for it and check your first post all at once so this is worth TWO grades.
  8. If you finish early work on your profile in blogger. Make sure to not use your whole first name or where you live. Keep yourself safe.
